Marion Harris holds the distinction of being the first white female to record a blues song in 1919. Check her out on the internet. Lots of good info about her. This is a pretty good version of St Louis Blues and was recorded by her in 1920. Enjoy!

  • As a Victor collector I am saddened that they turned her down and she instead recorded with Columbia, But I am glad too, she was so talented. I would argue that she helped usher in 20s jazz as we know it.
