  • What a cutie! Leonardo DiCaprio on ice! He was so amazing at age 18 - that he won the Olympics two years later wasn't at all a surprise.

  • Kulik had a great short at these World's but Todd outskated him technically and presentationwise in the long. The Judges had the podium in the correct order..I too would have had Rudy third. Ilya second. Todd FIRST!

  • @pellebravesskylar Way too cute! The adorable ruddy-faced Russian type ^w^

  • @fsfan22 Rudy was lucky to even be 4th in the short. He probably only had the 6th best short program. Even if he would have beaten Ilia in the long (which I disagree he deserved to anyway) he would have never beaten Kulik overall. Kulik won the short program.

  • @TheWhatsinaname You are on crack. Galindo had some of the worst jump techniqure of anyone in the top 10. It is amazing he even got all those triples around with the horrible flutz, wierd entrances, bad leans, and little height. I am very glad Rudy had a great skate and won the bronze but better jump technique than Kulik!?!? Crazy statement.

And under the new judging system Stojko would have been way back after the short and lucky and his PCS in the long would be low.

  • @TheWhatsinaname Galindo certainly did NOT have better jump technique. His jumps got much less height than Kulik's and he flutzed as well.

Stojko absolutely wouldn't have won if the competition had been judged under CoP either. He was way behind after the SP and his spins and footwork were nothing special.

  • @TheWhatsinaname And IMHO, Galindo at this point still had far better jump technique, as well as far better technique in his spins and transitions than Kulik or Stojko did. It's interesting to note for those interested and those saying Kulik should have won, if this championship had taken place under the newer COP scoring system, it's entirely likely that Stojko would have won and Kulik would have been off the podium entirely.

  • @BourbonAnakin Um, Kulik winning, here, NAW. How could he? He didn't have nearly the jumps or jump combinations as Eldredge did & he was still lacking on transitions & spins as he would get by the time of his 1998 Olympic winning performance. Though, I still say Elvis in this championship had far better jump combinations than Kulik or Galindo, but Elvis took himself out of medals in the short.

  • he reminds me more of Marc Owen

  • I really liked Tatiana Malinina skating to this music in 1999, she should have won bronze, she had a gorgeous triple lutz.

  • Galindo???? Comparing the air positions of the jumps - the height, the perfection in form and the 'no hesitation' ease - all go to Ilia by like 10 to 1. Rudy...look...well...like a whippet in the air. I thought Ilia should have won too, the judging system has always bummed. Anyway he showed um at the Olympics; as Scott put it "that was...unbeatable"

  • He was amazing. I personally thought he should've won this year. It's too bad that he lacked consistency throughout his career, but he came through for the Olympics.
