@jarwick I meant that because this song was successful, too many artists would put out some insincere copy of it to sound like reggae and not be soulful and not a true "protest" song, not that it defines reggae. I'm speaking of that era only. Just look @ the 80's & all the cookie cutter rock bands that sprang up to "ride the wave" I am just trying to inform & not insult in case you were not born then. Smoke all the weed you want Ed, but he(Desmond) was speaking of the plight of the Jewish people, as some are persicuted just by the colour of their skin, they dealt with this hatred every day as a people(or as a faith if not born Jewish) and he still said "sing with a happy heart".
