♮ Story; Lightning couldn't believe it. On her twenty-first birthday, her litle sisters demises a lie in order to trick her older sibling. However, little did Lightning know - it was not a lie. Serah had become a Pulse l'Cie - an enemy of Cacoon. It was Lightning's job to despose of these cursed beings, so why would her sister lie? On top of that, she agreed to marry Snow, a man which Lightning detested and found unworthy of her younger sister. She couldn't fathom the idea of him touching her, more or less, being near her. Distraught and angry, her harsh words chase Serah out of their home, unaware that this would be the last time she saw her alive.

The Military had announced the presence of a Pulse Fal'Cie in the city. There would be little time before they turned on civilians and purged the city, and with it, and Pulse l'Cie. "Serah, I should have listened to you." she whispered.

She was too late.

Snow and Lightning pleaded for Serah to remain awake and speak to the two. Blinking in and out, all she could hear were the muffled voices and anger of her fiancee' and older sister. If only things were quiet - she thought. If only her two loved ones would stop fighting anf get along. Letting her eyes shut, Serah transforms into a crystal, drifting into her deep, eternal slumber. "Sweet dreams," Snow sighs.

This wasn't real. This couldn't be happening -

Lightning withdrew her hand and angrily snatched Snow's collar. "Sweet dreams?! She's not sleeping! Serah's ... she's ..." Her stance crumbled, exhaustion overcoming the angry woman. Clutching at her heart, a red symbol appeared. Was this the mark of a l'Cie? She thought back to her sister's arm. It was the same symbol. She was a l'Cie.

The symbol grew larger, covering the area beneath her feet.

Snow, sensing his in-law's pain, made an effort to comfort her. "She's alive- remember the legend?! She's not dead!" Anger overtaking her, Lightning struck Snow. "It's over! Open your eyes and face reality!" she screamed, pointing at Snow's marked arm. They were marked. It was over.

In defeat, Lightning clutched at the door posessing her and her sister's symbol. "Serah. Why didn't I listen ... ? I'm so sorry..." Her heart beat louder. The pain was searing through her body as she spread her arms, embracing her fate.

Louder than thunder.
