I didn't know he was originally supposed to be in The Tree of Life. I wonder how differently the movie would've been if he did it instead of Brad Pitt. Either way, it would've been the way Terence Malick wants it, because a movie of his doesn't get released until it's as perfect as he thinks it is. But it creeps me out knowing that Heath's been dead for almost 4 years now and there he is, jokingly saying that once he'd make that film, he'd drop dead; instead he did having never done the film.

...I know it was a statement about him having a period of resting in his busy life. But... wow. Tearing up anyway. It's unfair.

@karaokevox Sorry, but it's not a prophecy. It was a small joke that some people have taken out of context - he hadn't filmed Tree of Life - had he - then maybe it would have been a bit prophetic. What happened was a tragedy and accident. I can say I am going to die, it's not a prophecy - it's simply true.

@Cinemadman Yeah, whew...you're right. Good thing he avoided being in a challenging arthouse film instead of dying of a drug overdose in New York. That was close! He really dodged a bullet!

I hated The Tree of Life. I mean no offense but thank God Heath dodged that bullet. I completely lost respect for Brad Pitt's career because of this film. I was not going to remember Heath Ledger for doing a rubbish film like The Tree of Life. But anyways Rest In Peace Heath.

i guess he was going through a custody battle for his kids when he Overdosed. Poor guy. Just proves that not even all the money and fame in the world brings happiness. IMO its Jesus

I thought I had lost this but it is here, as the movie as only just been realesed in the last few wks >End of July 2011, of course with Brad Pitt as was said after Heath Passed, it has taken a long time to come to screen? The early clips from the movie I believe look thesame as the ones that are out now. I believe there is another interview with Heath, as at the end he says when that is done he was taking a longtime off go to europe grow a belly to bounce hisdaughter on!!I If you hear send plz.

@TheBigjay927 Terry Gilliam shouldn't even be able to use the same dry cleaner as Terrence Malick.

"Then I'll drop to the ground dead"
Very eerie.
wow, that last statement by ledger was truly disturbing.

It's ironic in that, he said it with such verve; looking forward to resting was the intended meaning. So certain, and yet so unaware. RIP Heath.
