Im a frequent flyer,,i see tsa short staffing and long lines all the time..i also notice new faces at the check point..where are the veteran tso officers? who have experience fired? thats not right i want the best qualified tso's screening,,not newbees,im all for tsa having basic rights and a union

Republicans are not scaremongers -I voted Republican and will again -but I think better treatment of TSA workers is in order. The Dems have done nothing either.

Because the TSA is a weathervane that demonstates what the Government thinks of poeple who WORK for a living -as opposed to being an out of touch politician,a millionare,or a bottom feeder who expects the govt to support them even if they don't get educated or have any skills. Care about TSA if you care about middle class!

You are so absolutley correct, I am a TSO and have been with TSA for a year, and I can tell you that we have some folks in management that are majorally biased, unqualified to even be managing people to begin with and have no people skills what so ever. Collective bargaining is vital to the success of this agency. I don't know where DeMint and his menions are coming from by stating that unions are gonna affect national security. That is a total falousy to say the least.

Also, when poeple get injured on the job,the credibilty of the worker is challenged first. TSA still has one of the highest injury rates, if not the highest in any civilian Federal service! There is also a pay scale for TSA which no other agency uses, which deliberatly limits pay raises at the rate other agencies are recieving.This has NOTHING to do with National security, but Senator DeMint apparently believes it does.

The excuse that Senator DeMint uses is an excuse to deprive some 50,000 Americans from basic labor rights that Border Patrol,and EVERY Police Dept has.Having a Union has not hindered their operations.TSA has hired some very UNTALENTED managment,who are enable to make oversighted,unispired decisions,based on the fact that they can JUSTIFY,ANYTHING they do under"OPERATIONAL NEEDS"this includes having ONE MAN-at times to load/unload/inspect luggage, direct passengers -DURING A HOLIDAY SEASON!
