This was the third truck I came across in Port Mac during my 2010 holiday, but was the first one I managed to get on video. I had been trying to get this body and chassis combination on video for a while so it was great to finally get it done. When I was there about 10 years before capturing this footage there was this ancient Volvo front loader doing the job this monster does. I still remember seeing it collecting at the bowling club everyday beside the resort I was staying at. I was sort of hoping there would be the slightest chance it was still around, but it had been replaced by this truck for a while.
You may also notice this truck belongs to JR Richards... the third Richards company. However, JRR doesn't manufacture their own equipment, they get the bodies off Solo Resource Recovery and JJ Richards - lately they have been getting them from JJR, such as this green giant. Each day this Scania passes through the heart of Port Macquarie early in the morning to service the central shopping centre, does a handful of industrial pick-ups and knocks off a bunch of high-rise apartments. You can imagine the body of this truck holds some nasty stuff, with all that mixed waste from the grocery stores, restaurants and apartments which enters the hopper.
I put this compilation together with the footage I captured on a rainy Wednesday morning of some of the regular pick-ups in Port Macquarie, a handful of them apartments and some commercial stops - that first clip would've made a good overhead packing shot if I thought about asking the driver beforehand, also gotta love that deep roar as it took off up the ramp :) Anyway a massive thanks to the operator and I hope he enjoys the footage along with you guys, please rate and comment.
Body Make: JJR Engineering
Model: 40m MAXPACK
Chassis: Scania P270
Contractor: JR Richards & Sons
Collection Type: Mixed Commercial Waste
WOW, I'm absolutely in love with this rig's engine sound, quite possibly the best on a FL you've filmed and I can't imagine better-sounding one!! Thanks a ton for going out and getting so much of this truck, the video truly is a masterpiece with such a machine starring in it! Had they been refueling it at 7:32? I noticed the JR Richards name on that tanker truck haha. Or maybe it was sewage?? That was an epic final shot btw, with the backup beeper and engine echoing, I'll always love that!

@Trashman242 After watching the video again, the engine really does sound bloody awesome... has a combination of grunt, roar and scream. There are a few other front loaders on the way which sound pretty mean; guess they all do in a sense, because they are FLs after all :D That tanker in the last clip would've been the grease trap truck, coincidently they were there at the same time. Thanks for labelling this as a masterpiece, a very strong word haha

@MitchellM15 Oh grease truck? Hm how does it work there? Looked like a tanker with hoses and stuff, over here if I'm thinking of the same thing it's more of a dump truck that empties a container into the back, as if the stuff weren't liquid haha. Do the grease trucks there just suck the grease out of a reservoir or something? Interesting..
haha definitely a masterpiece, due to that crazy awesome engine haha, you're totally welcome :)

@Trashman242 Yeh if I understand it correctly, the grease is drained to some reservoir which is where the hose is directly connected to... don't think there would be a more efficient system?

@arkansastrash320 I threw it together early this year - did it say somewhere it was made this year?! There is a bit of a different sound to this Scania compared to others and your typical roaring truck. Yep mate very busy these days, always long days at the moment.
