Caracas - Venezuela 2-12-09
Mr. Eustache's "Suite Concertante for World Woodwinds & Symphony Orchestra", was world-premiered on 2-8-09 under the baton of his fellow-countryman & most celebrated young orchestral conductor in the world, Mtro. Gustavo Dudamel, with his world renown "Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar". This 45 min. long-12 movements-21 solo world-WWs sonic-global 'tour de force' is a 'first' in the concertante-symphonic repertoire. It directly reflects the cultural-interconnected reality of our times: while inspired by different music cultures of the world it is formally based on the western classical music concertante-symphonic tradition.
III. Middle East - Maghreb (North-Africa): After a short solo instrumental introduction [Taksim], this composite movement has influences from classical [Maqams, melodic modes, like Hejaz, &/or rhythms, like the Masmoudi, i.e.], as well as traditional, popular & folk elements from North-Africa [like the Tunisian Bounaouara form/rhythm]
Solo World Woodwind Instrument(s): the Oryxophone* [simple sax made out of an Oryx (antelope) horn, used in the soundtrack of The Passion Of the Christ], Arabic Nay [oblique cane flute], Tunisian Mezoued [ancient double clarinet], Persian Bass Ney* [made for the soundtrack of the film Munich], and both Arabic* & Persian Ney* flute headjoints to be played on the western Boehm flute.
*All Instruments with an asterisk (*) are unique, one-of-a-kind, custom creations developed-adaptated &/or designed by Pedro Eustache for Gynook Productions®
To the glory of God this brother has taken advantage of his 5 + talents and has multiplied them! Blessed be my brother Pedro.
