@winvistainfo This is more efficient and low maintenence , a dam would create a sediment deposit that would eventually compromise the wheel.

hello i made a water wheel just like this one.His gear ratios are off he is only at 10.5 to 1 instead of 25 to 1.I am getting 20 rpm on the wheel and he was getting 10 .I am bringing mr rpm up to 2160 using flywheels and starter gears. This wheel works really good.I used just streight paddels and only have 4 inches of water going through right now and will make over 1000 watts.

Wow, that is so cool! I wish I had a stream in my back yard!
Looks like you could make that dam a little larger though, much of the water is missing your wheel. But great job!
OK sorry but is that at 12v dc? 3-4 amps?, Just that I have built a similair project but when i spin the wheel fast im only producing nothing more than 1 volt?

@MrOtix the PMG generates between 12 and 50V depending upon wheel speed. It generates 12V at 150 rpm. Current varies between 1 and 5A. there is a post on the Greener Living Forum under hydroelectricity csalled waterwheel pictorial if you want to view the build

Hety mate how much popwer are you generating there?

@MrOtix It generates between 15 and 200W depending upon flow rate. the average power generated is about 40W - but as that is 24/7 it's probably equivelent to a few hunered watts of solar panels. I use the power to light my house via a 400Ah battery bank.
