My conscience is clear, done nothing wrong: Tharoor Shashi Tharoor, who quit his ministerial post over alleged links to the IPL Kochi franchise, said in the Lok Sabha Tuesday that his 'conscience is clear' and that he had asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to have the charges against him thoroughly probed.
'My conscience is clear. I have done nothing improper or unethical, least of all illegal,' Tharoor said two days after he resigned as minister of state for external affairs.
'I am new to Indian politics, but I have a long track record in public life unblemished by financial irregularities,' Tharoor, with a tri-colour shawl draped round his shoulders, told the Lok Sabha amid pin-drop silence.
Refuting 'fanciful and malicious charges', Tharoor said that he has told the prime minister to have the charges against him thoroughly investigated.

The former high ranking UN diplomat said he resigned in order to enable parliament to proceed with the legislative business and to focus on greater challenges ahead.

In an eloquent speech, Tharoor, a well-known author, thanked the people of Thiruvananthapuram for electing him to the Lok Sabha and underlined that he believed in 'an India of pluralism, tolerance and diversity'.

  • Awesome and Gr8 Speech!! .

One more eg; of being scapegoat of the dirty Indian politics.

  • Sir...This parliament is used to speeches by great leaders like laloo and mayawati.....

India is needs to know your value.......you are India's ambassador to the world.

  • @tshibumi The problem is that such elegant and well educated people get frustrated with the dirty politics of our country and quit....as long as we dont have a retirement age for politicians and positions of leadership, we wont be able to get much needed fresh blood in Indian politics.

  • Brilliant and eloquent man. We/ India need people like him - classy and sincere.

  • Gandhi was a Mahatma. attempts to make him look bad are being done by foreigners to make him an example to corrupt our youth. Mahatma was Mahatma. Pure, Nirmal.

Tharoor and Sunanda are degerate people. Both have married three times. No famous Indian leader every made to to top with such a degenerate character. Shashi many people mention is gay as well. But this is his lifestyle why allow his Western backers to push it on our Indian youth. That is what we resent

  • Shashi Tharoor is a need to India.

  • Great Speech. As a Malayalee, I am proud of you Mr. Tharoor. Your honesty shows in the speech. The poem you narrated on Kerala gave me goose bumps. I hope to see you back as the future PM of this country. I hope you lead the new generation and bring a lot of leaders like you to Indian politics!
