If I took my RS out to the track and I have it would be very nice and easy because the last thing I would want to do is get into it with an STI and crash a car that numbers around 800 units total production. I would let the STI pass me even of I could blow his doors off just like this guy did. If I was driving ans STI I could give two sh-ts about rapping it around a tree on the track and would have no problem pushing the envelope. It is a throw away where the RSA is a special car.
.The RSA is a driving experience where the STI is - well a tool with no soul. To take this up another level, the RSA is early 90s technology and you can pick up a Cayan R or other today that wil blow away the RS based on higher power and modern components and better balance. Now moving on to track...
. Further, in comparison to a STi (great car but more track focused) it is a dream to drive on the street and will blow off other cars (torque) with far more hp and have a hell of a good time doing it I am here to tell you. The STi is perhaps one of the last cars I would drive on the street because it isn't fun and the motor is peaky.
The RS is in my opinion one of the best true sports cars (the last one out of Porsche that can be tooled around on the street with comfort and isn't buried in the digital age), One can drive around town, take trips with not worry about anything and also tool over to a track and have some fun on a track day and let’s not forget it turns head as much as a Ferrari on the street. What it is not is a race focused track car. It was never intended for this. It was designed for balance.
I know this post is old; however after reading comments there are a couple of things that should be said. I am a very happy owner of an RS America. From my point of view the RSA is the last of what is a true Porsche sports car. It was never intended to be a competition racer. What is it? A fantastic well balanced sports car. RS for Porsche is a very important statement. It means the factory really thought it out and stands behind the car for what it is.
All this being said the STi is a fantastic car and perhaps one of the best starting points for a fun track car...

Sti's are disposable, RS America's are close to two decades old and motoring icons.. hence why the Porsche driver was not on the edge..
there is a lot more involvement and driving finesse in driving an old 964..

All this shows is that you are a better driver, I would take that Porsche over your turd any day, regardless if your car is faster or not.

ahhaahah closed down and raped. goes to show that japan does it better!
the ironic thing is that porsche will probably cost more than the setup of this subie!
