This show is based on Loie Fuller's Art Nouveau skirt and veil dance of the late 1800s. Combine it with American Burlesque, and this is what you get!

  • I don't think this is an original film. looks like it was made to look old...

  • This must be one of Gypsy Rose Lee's inspirations. Even after 100 years, the beauty of the female form is still universal. Thanks to Lumiere and Edison...and YouTube!

  • Where's the bush?

  • Guys, who you see here is the beautiful Australian burlesque performer Lola the Vamp. Neither is it old footage, nor does she state it is, that´s why it´s not a "fake". She´s merely inspired by Art Nouveau, that´s it.

  • @esaloops (Looks like a fake to me to)

  • @thursdaysrecords Which female form? The dance was inspired by a century-old form, but the body type displayed here is thin and toned - a standard of beauty from modern times. In those days, the ideal was a bit plumper.

  • @esaloops I think you are right!! Even her body doesn't fit to these times.

  • fake!

  • @esaloops Neither do I. Because the body shapes then was very different than the beauty standards nowadays.
