In response to some questions about how quickly the Pioneer SPH-DA01 AppRadio boots and what a normal switch of the car's key from Accessory to On looks like, here is a brief video showing how my AppRadio works. I believe this is how a normal AppRadio should work. Other behavior is likely evidence of a incorrectly wired or defective unit.

  • how does it start when we have a "push" button like bmw and other...does it reboot because of the ignition of the motor ?

for exemple with avic F700 , in a alfa 159, you have to "plug" the key "card" in his place.

system is on , radio starts... ( this action to plug the key card is like to be on "acc" )

when you push the "ignition" motor button, there's one second that restart the device because of the "micro cut" voltage....

    any issues ?

  • @vloran07 I don't have direct experience, but it should be based on if the ignition is "on" or in the "accessory" position irregardless of if there's a key or a push button starter.

  • is it possible to run pandora/rdio and the maps app at the same time?

  • @JLemm yes you can run the apps simultaneously and listen to your selected audio source while you have Google Maps, INRIX, Calendar, etc. running on the screen of the AppRadio.

  • can you do a video on the settings? as in like bass/treble/subwoofer/ are any of these in the settings? thanks. I'm wanting to get one but i need to know if i need to sell my subwoofer or not.

  • @JLemm Sorry for the delay in my reply. I'll see if I can get some video of that. There is a 3 band parametric EQ that allows you a decent amount of control over the sound. Basically, you pick the band- low, mid or high, pick the frequency in that band you want to center on and then pull the curve up or down accordingly.

  • @carlos53k Yes from Netflix. But you have to be in park with the parking brake on like all the others. I'm sure theres already a bypass for it though. Ebay.

  • Can it play videos?

    Does any one know?

  • I see you are using a MK5 volkswagen, did you manage to keep steering wheel controls(if so volume and MFD display or just volume)? I am really thinking about getting one of these for my MK5 GTI thanks for the help.

  • R32?

  • Can I ask what kind of stand for you phone you are using? Thnx

  • Would it be better to add a condensator, that keep shortly the appradio in power while starting diesel motor...?

In citroen C4 diesel, the factory radio system, don't power off briefly while starting the motor...

  • @AppRadioCentral

the problem can be with diesel engine...you have to wait a little bit longer...in your video you start almost at same time ...1 second later after being in acc it's ok....

If you wait a little longer due to the preheating glow plug in diesel motor, seems the radio boot system don't like...

after waiting the preheating , the boot seems to be in an important booting system moment so that if there a short break down voltage caused by motor ignition the radio system can "crash"

  • that process disturb the radio system starting....there 's 2 process...

first puting the key card on simple contact...starts the radio system...( it's like the acc with standard key...)

second, pushing the ignition button to start the motor, break shortly the voltage of the radio so that the radio seems disturbed...i don't explain other way of the frequency radio station crashed and return to 87.7 mhz.. even if there were saved just before that bug.

it must be forwarded for future firmware updt

  • @AppRadioCentral

I have 2 problems with that...

today, at igniting the motor, the appradio lost all frequencies of radio stations...it was curious to have the radios station name on memory with all 87.8 mhz....( skyrock , nrj, and others...)

2 nd problem, i can't put in memory the name of the radio station, i mean if i'm listening skyrock, i program the frequency and save it in memory....it's ok but it's not keeping the radio station name...it save the info of the singer ... ?????
