  • Hehe, Ethiopian clean sweep, but Kenya revenged with our own mens sweep of the steeplechase.

  • @1stPlaceDirector True, but it's a fault to be nationalistic to the point that you disregard the others' accomplishments. Dibaba shattered an endurance world record, while the American runner didn't even make it to the top three (if I'm remembering right) but was showered with attention.

I can understand our athlete getting more attention, but Dibaba got nary a sentence in recognition. There's a balance between supporting your own country and having fair and informative commentary.

  • @TheRealCodeBlack

All countries want to see their own athletes, nothing new there. Have you ever noticed that when an athlete does well in a sport that the nation normally did poorly in, the whole country takes notice and starts wanting to watch the sport? This is because they care about THEIR athlete, not the other one. Each countries news media focuses on what their country wants to see or they will suffer ratings.

  • anyone want to chat

    someone want to chat jJ

  • Oh (whoops)...

  • This is not the olympics.

  • I was watching this at home (I'm American) last night, after almost missing it, and the broadcast really annoyed.

They focused completely on Flanagan after the race, and about how she was the second American to medal in this race in history. Which I can understand as being nationalistic, but they didn't show Dibaba at all after the race. AT ALL.

The sad thing is that they were probably going to, but the moment they realized that an American got a medal they completely cut her out.

  • What else can we expect from those extra ordinary Ethiopian runners........VICTORY!!!!!

  • A lil' taste of what is coming this summer. Thanx for the video. Go Ethiopia.
