Stuart Broad says the series against South Africa will be an indicator of how England have progressed.

Some people say we shouldn't look too far ahead of ourselves but I feel this is a vitally important series in the build-up to Australia next summer, in particular for Stuart Broad.

In 12 months time the first Ashes Test starts in Cardiff and I want Broad to be the finished article by then. They need to persist with him as a front-line strike bowler who can score runs at number eight and his development is vitally important.
