@Rectiony if i have my history straight, :p , china invaded what is now north korea, trying to spread their communism, the U.S. stepped in to stop the spread of communism, and the two halves ended up being divided due to the north being brainwashed, and the south wanting no part of it. those who liked the idea of communism who lived in the south, moved to the north and vice versa. In 1950 the boarders closed, but there are still some people in the north who try to sneak into the south
