This video is part one to a series I'm doing on Holy Scripture. In this video, I discuss the Old Testament, paying special attention to why the Orthodox use the Septuagint instead of the Masoretic, as Protestants and Jews use.

If you're interested in reading the Septuagint for yourself, visit: http://ccat.sas.upenn.edu/nets/edition/

For more information on the Septuagint, including a complete list of quotes from the Septuagint in the New Testament and a comparison with the Masoretic, visit: http://mysite.verizon.net/rgjones3/

I don't. The Hebrew text is 1000 years after Christ. The Septuagint is before Christ. The Hebrew should be used, but not as the base. The Septuagint should be the base of the Bible and it's translations.

The Septuagint was the first Old Testament. Numerous scriptures were collected and used to decide which were authentic, this is why we have two creation stories in the Septuagint. The Hebrews did not have one book or collection and their scriptures varied. As mentioned in the video the Masoretic texts since again they made many varying versions were not complete.

Right! They are only burdensome to those who are caught up in the flesh and worldly lust like material things. When you are content, happy, and have self esteem in the Lord, you are a better person automatically because of the Spirit. Those who hate and are mean and law breakers are not happy with themselves, so they project instead of attempting to find the problem and the solution. The Law is burdensome to those who mean to enforce it on others by backbiting and blaming them, cannot keep it.

amen. Because His rules are not burdensome. Interesting , a few weeks I went on a walk in a preserve. I didn't know that you we weren't allowed to get off the path.Soon a worker glaring at us said,"YOU CAN"T BE WALKING THERE, YOU'LL GET A TICKET". "oh, I'm sorry I said. She said, READ THE SIGNS.I said,If I saw the signs I would have not. I like following the rules"..I surprised myself that I said that but I realized that similarly because they are right and good," His commands are not burdensome!

I think that it is more of a literal and fully understood interpretation of the commandments, focusing more on love and total submission rather than the strict self prohibition of law. He had these commandments ingrained in his heart through the spirit of God, and was convicted to obey them on every level, even the subliminal one. Giving us the example of what we could become by submitting to God, rather than attempting to follow rules that we could not bear. I have changed so much through God.

Yes. His standard is even higher now than the general 10. As He said that "you heard that it was said do not murder, but that if we are angry with our brother or hate in our heart then we are murdering in our heart and if we lust its adultery in our hearts. Higher standard yet more grace&mercy too. Romans 8 if meditate on when I run. It has taken me years but I literally go through each scripture from v1 to 31 (Ithink) in my mind during my run. By the end i've read a chapter while in the hills.

The way is see it is the ten commandments were a prophecy of what the perfected spiritual man would become. It is stated many times that the law was unbearable or unable to be kept by man, but it remained until Jesus. As it says The law and the prophets were until John, since that day the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. Luke 16:16 I sometimes do the same thing. Romans Ch8 really hit me today as i read it. Sometimes you don't get it all on the first go around you know

amen. It's just sometimes in the past, after the Lord used the law to teach me where I blew it and fell short, rather than responding, I just kept reading the next scripture to figure out what that said. In other, I can get hungry for knowledge without wanting to really repent and change my ways. But your right. We need to continue reading, studying and APPLYING TO OUR WALK. thanks,
