fair enough, thats just the way i learned it. but dont be a twat about it, your way of speaking and using punctuation isnt any "better" or more "pure" than any other. Language evolves and is used and taught differently in different parts of the world. grow up and stop crying about it.

Actually, they don't unless you want to do it in the same Americanized (i.e. lazy and stubborn) way that turned "aluminium" into "aluminum".

Proper UK English (you know, where the language comes from?) grammar rules dictate that punctuation goes outside of the quotation marks unless the punctuation is a part of the quote. Frankly, anyone who understands how and why punctuation works would come to that conclusion on their own.
