We have just bought a puppy from a 1st time breeder in Denmark, which is were we now live. He is registered with the Danish Kennel Club which have a strict buying guide. I have been appaled by the Eng KC for many years over their behaviour towards dog breeding and the standard of breeds, if you look back to over 50 years ago at the breed standards you will see how they have changed. If my dog is 'faulty' in any way they have to refund me my money and take the dog back and not used for breeding!

@wilerman Zak is doing ok, he had two fits yesterday and today we have just come off the fields and he has been running around like a puppy ! he is on keppra which is a human drug, as well as phenobarbitone, and bromide, and his fits are nothing now compared to how they were in the film, they are not as violent, he was due to start the keppra the day after the film was taken, and the improvement is plain to see. thanks for asking xx

i just wondered where you bought zac from as there were many rumours that he came from a puppy farm, then there were ust as many rumors he came from a top breeder. Dis you tell his breeder once the fitting started and have the stopped breeding from his parents?
I know how upsetting it can be to see your dog fitting as one of mine does it due to having had his spinal cored damaged by a vet and i know it's best to keep clam and talk them out of it but it's not always easy. xx

@pommania Hi, No zak was,nt bred at a puppy farm he was bred in yorkshire. and i saw his mum, and yes i did tell the breeder as soon as i knew that he was epileptic, she said that as far as she knew there were no other pups in the litter affected by this problem , I only have her word on that, she did say that she was surprised, sorry to hear that you also have a dog with this problem. zak is doing well on his new medication and his fits are not as violent now. thanks for your interest. jo xx

I was in tears when Zak was shown. Of all the shocking things in this documentary, this visual is one of the most gripping ones. (fighting for the title of the most mind boggling, or best in show, are the response of the owner of the winning CKCS ("no, he's fine") the judges comment on the Bassets "furnishings" and calling the missing ridge in Rhodesian Ridgebacks a genetic fault that warants elimination of healthy pups.)

i agree with everything you say, P.D.E. has shown how pedigree dogs are being used, as for zak he is still a happy loving dog, and is a very big part of my family xx
