Every spring, and every night for the last 10 years or so we are visited by lovesick Woodcocks calling in our yard. I've become quite fond of these goofy little birds. I know you can't see anything, I was lying on my belly in the grass at night taping this, but I wanted to share his call.

  • that is awesome..i have to listen in the spring!

  • Well, I looked it up. They weigh 4-1/2 to 7 OUNCES! Wikipedia also said: "The pin feathers of the woodcock are much esteemed as brushtips by artists, who use them for fine painting work." I found that very interesting. Thank you for the education. I wouldn't have looked it up without you!

  • That's pretty neat! It almost sounds like a bug. Now I'm going to have to Google Woodcock so I can see how big these "goofy little birds" are! Thank you for sharing!

  • Ha! this is awesome... I'm so glad you got his call on tape, it doesn't even sound real. Thank you for sharing this. I don't think I have ever actually heard one before this.
