George Raft was the lead and he was great. Bogart appeared in a supporting role, as he did in Raft's "They Drive By Night." Raft was a giant in the '30s, an icon for the gangsters. I keep reading that they all mimicked the way he dressed and acted. He was a wheel man for Owney Madden before going to Hollywood and, like Cagney and Bob Hope, he was a world class dancer.
