@StickyCal420 When you have some time look up on youtube Sakuraba vs Newton It should be the first video called Catch Wrestling a study of Sakuraba. Its a great video because it breaks down in slow motion what sakuraba aka catch wresters do. And you will see how unlike pride the ufc rules and adcc rules favor Bjj. You cant do douple cross face, figure four neck cranks, wind pip chokes, can openers, arm and leg slicer. On a side note look up "billy robinson grovit" Its a rare neck crank!

@StickyCal420 You see true catch is not the type you see in Japan. Thats more sambo base/judo base. Thats Funaki and Ken Shamrock. When you look at old Pancrase matches you didnt see any wrestling. Sato, Gomi, and Sakuraba were catch wrestler because there base was wrestling. There focus was to control you with bodylocks, leg riding, nelsons, riding the legs, cross face, neck cranks, and the kimura as the go to move. The problem with today is they take all those weapons away from the catch guy.

@StickyCal420 I agree with you. At my school what makes a great and true catch wrestler is someone with a deep wrestling background. There are to types. They style you see in japan thats more of a shooto sambo style mix with judo. Then theres the European Bill Robinson catch thats base is folk wrestling/greco wrestling. This is the style that Sakurabu used to destroy the gracie. This stlye of catch is not submisson befour submission but control over submission.

@b7r7u7c7e I agree with you, Megumi would win a MMA match. Her catch wrestling is pretty good, it's her pure jujitsu that isn't on the same level as kyra. In jujitsu it's "position before submission" Catch wrestling is about getting takedowns and going for a submissions right away, not really focusing on position as much. It's real aggressive. That was the difference in this match. It was at Kyra's pace. A pure chest match. Megumi is the best though, win or lose.

In a mma fight megum would kill kyra. But pure grappling its no contest, kyras a beast. Megumi catch wrestling is good but not great.
