There's no trying to like the stage names. it's an extremely solid album and the stand ins is as well. Listen to it a few more times, give each song a serious listen. A girl in port is a great song, title track as well, john allyn smith sails is incredible. unless it's kicks rocks and savannah smiles is a tragedy in fret form.

OK you co vinced me, I will pull that cd out and give it an honest listen. Keep it in my cd player for a month.

I'm glad that you're giving it another go because I've been doing so lately as well. First to last, every song on this album has an incredible back story. John Allyn Smith Sails is a poetic retelling of the life and death of John Berryman. There can not be The Stand Ins without The Stage Names. When reviewing The Stand Ins I listened to The Stage Names first and then all the way through. Will Sheff is a top lyricist.

You know I honestly did put it in the cd player for a road trip last weekend. And, I do not know what I didi not see in it. It is very good as good as any other release from them. Funny thing is my favorite music top three are Pink Floyd Bob Dylan and Okkervil river. These guys are very under rated and I do not know why.
