"The Hidden Truth: Islamic Roots in the West" by Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick

His biography from http://www.almaghrib.org: Shaykh Abdullah Hakim Quick, PhD, is the Head of our Islamic History and Homiletics Department, a rather enriching and exciting department to indulge in. His students dub him as "old school Dr. Quick" and find his Boston accent a rather smile-jerking classroom staple. They also jokingly claim that he can look at you and accurately map out your family's migration path, mainly due to his travels far and wide to expose you to his first-hand research and experience through his PowerPoints, documentaries and books.

Alhamdulilah, he is one of our greatest additions to the AlMaghrib Instructor line-up, an addition that has grabbed the attention of people worldwide. Shaykh Abdullah has accomplished a lifetime worth of achievements spanning many continents while enlightening the lives of millions. He was born in the United States of America and accepted Islam in Canada in 1970. He pursued his study of Islam at the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia where he graduated and received an Ijaza from the College of Da'wah and Islamic Sciences in 1979, one of first two students to do so from the West. He later completed a Masters Degree and a Doctorate in African History at the University of Toronto in Canada. His thesis was an analysis of the early life of Shaykh 'Uthman Dan Fodio, a great West African Scholar and social activist.

Shaykh Abdullah has served as Imam, Daa'iyyah, teacher and counsellor in the USA, Canada, South Africa and the West Indies. For three years he contributed to the religious page of Canada's leading newspaper. He has traveled to over 59 countries on lecture, research and educational tours. He has also made many appearances on Islam channel, Huda TV, Peace TV, SABC, and in conferences and radio stations the world over.

Presently he is the Director of the Discover Islam Centre (Cape Town).

  • Indeed we need to be able to be a sincere nation and follow the best of teachings, for that it the only way to success and prosperity.

    =)

  • Allah almighty bless u, and benefit from this talk to all

  • more pepoul need to see posativ thangs in the islamic world most pepoul need to lern more about history

  • Go to my channel for full lectures by khalid yasin and ahmed deedat.

  • @lemuriavi Exactly - once we have come back to the Quran and Sunnah, then can the Muslims of the world make a change.

  • Mashallah brother. This is the first video i have seen. Allah bless you and mercy you for your works.

  • @sayyid14 So my thesis is not to simply make Islam dominant in countries but rather instill islamic values in muslims, to bring them back to Quran and Sunnah, learn Arabic.

The fact that muslims need to shout around to make their voice be heard explains how weak we are as Muslims. Muhammad said this about muslims being like bubbles in the ocean.

We need quality. Muslims with quality, and then power will come. Jews don't have quantity but quality.

    Insyaallah Allah helps us. Amin.

  • @sayyid14 In other words, we need intellectuals and people who practice their role in the society along with the Syaria'. Considering the fact that most of us in Muslims countries go to Western University to get educated, how do you expect muslims can simply bring out an Islamic government and be successful?

You don't need to go far, middle east is enough, the Arab countries. Definitely muslim countries, but how did they impact the world in development? Barely we can see impacts from them.

  • @sayyid14 So my view is, we should as muslims learn the Quran IN arabic not mere translations if we really want to understand what Allah reveals to us.

It's not that I don't believe in the sincerity of Islamic political power. But for example in Malaysia,we've this Islamic party named PAS, but even if they got into power, they don't have the 'army' enough to practice Islam in finance, social events, etc. They don't have the experts except some ulama's which is not enough. We need intellectuals.

  • @sayyid14 Secondly, I see no point even if Islam happens to dominant in the countries you cited. I explain why in this brief place. Firstly because we don't have the capacity, the intellectual capacity. Islam nowadays is becoming mere rituals to most of us, not the way of life. This is in contrast when compared to previous muslims during the Islamic Golden Age under Abbassid, for example.
