I have an enduring love for nature and I especially love humming birds. I have been making humming bird feeders for my mom for many years now. I have come up with a new design ( for me) that I like and have decided to go at it for a while and see what I come up with. The night I made this video I cut 6 bird feeders, and all of them turned out great. As always let me know what you think .

  • DUDE! where do I get a set of those pliers you used to make the loop on the top? did you just modify some needle nose, or did you get them that way? and if you got them that way tell me where so I can buy some!-)

  • @acroduster You can mosify a pair of small needle nose, by getting the ends hot in your torch. Or you can buy them from MGA. They are called bail Biters $20.

  • Thanks for these videos. Super helpful. I saved a ton of money making my own roller/masher. And mom loves her feeders!

  • @nevetsnosrap I am glad I could provide some insight of hoe to go about this project. It is cool you were able to make a roller masher as well. how is it working out for you?

  • I like your side marver thing, did you make that? Like a bench roller thing.... I was thinking about getting some graphite to do something similar to that. Also where did you get those stoppers for the the bottom of your bird feeders?.... nice vid man....

  • @syrKYLE Glad you asked about the large graphite tool seen in this vid. I am gonna make a short vid about some of my homemade tools.

  • awwwww

humming birds are super cute, but we don't get them in the UK. I have fritted glass also, but it's not that kind (you can see some of it in my 'piranha sintered' video).

i wish you were my neighbor, I have a mountain of bits in need of repair or things I need making. I need to fire up the acetylene torch and have a go and making my own glass monstrosities I guess. I tried finding the local neon guy. His phone was disconnected and the address was a demolished building.

  • That is so much fun. Too bad I don't do boro- but great fun to watch. And, your comments are very helpful.

  • @catman72 , well we could ship you some....but the cat would probably get it lol....

  • nice ur making me jealous man!

once i can actually get a straight bubble i got to try that

  • I absolutely love the stopper/feeder, they are handmade by another artist. I have never used non glass parts, on my h-bird feeders before, because I wanted my feeders to be purely glass, adding integrity to the art of the object. However, most of my previous designs, while beautiful, lacked pratical functionality, for different reasons. This design is purely functional, and also easier to create.

Found them on E-bay, for about $3 each including shipping.
