UPDATE: I've had The Drake for over a year now and I love it. It's clogged only a few times since then, where the old Mansfield toilet clogged nearly every day, especially in winter. My dad visited a few months after this video and liked this so much, he's having three of these installed in his new home this year.

My curiosity got the better of me this evening as I tried to flush an old dead houseplant which had been sitting on my kitchen counter for weeks (months maybe) down my new TOTO Drake II HET toilet.

DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS AT HOME WITH YOUR TOILET !!!

As you can see, the TOTO didn't quite live up to the hype. It wouldn't flush anything that was above the waterline, and it got baffled (literally) by the baseball-sized chunk, which I tried to break up by hand. I lost count of the number of flushes it took to remove everything. I'm just glad it eventually did.

Still, for everyday use, the TOTO works well.

  • Now you have to have a plumber come out and redo your plumbing!

  • @klg1956 Actually it's been working fine the past couple years...and if it ever does become a problem, it will probably be someone else's problem. :-)

  • You're lucky you didn't need to call a plumber after that little "experiment"! Toilets are not built for flushing wood chips, and of course the dirt clod was too big and getting in the way of the other stuff. The toilet looks new. Were you aware that you hold the handle down longer for larger flushes? It didn't seem like you were doing that. I like my Aquia but think my 2nd one will be a Drake, partly because of this video. I like that there is a little more water in the bowl. Thanks!

  • @Klutzy68 Lesson learned. It was brand-new, just installed a few days earlier. In spite of this failed experiment, I love the Drake, though I still find the water level a bit lower than I'd like.

  • SOME PEOPLE.. So excited over a top brand toilet, they just had to put a video on youtube of them testing it out.. and how is youtube an uncorrectly spelt word on its own site?

  • @succclollipop "Uncorrectly spelt"?

  • It took 10 flushes

  • hehhee

  • @whmoore185 It's been working just fine for the past 21 months. And the cost was comparable to a Champion or Cimmaron, which are not as highly-rated.
