  • [Part 1 of 2] The countless adaptations of "The (London)Derry Air," a traditional Irish ballad — as well as the hundreds of larger-than-life singers who've recorded it (e.g., Frank Patterson, Mahalia Jackson, Mario Lanza, John McCormack) have rendered this song a cliché for some. Not so! For me its unsurpassable popularity simply attests to its timeless beauty (continued).

  • [Part 2 of 2] Ultimately, of course, it was the Victorian/Edwardian English lawyer/composer Frederic Edward Weatherly (1848-1929) (who never even set foot in Ireland!) whose lyrics "Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling ..." would enter immortality. Yet no one who loves this song should miss Mahalia Jackson's gorgeous rendition "Danny Boy" (posted by Rowoches).

  • vraiment émouvant!

  • The song Mary Dear of course, not the Derry Air.
