  • Unlike most people, Pernell Roberts was not driven by money or fame. He was an actor of substance with an amazing tallent and playing Adam wasn´t enough for him. All the Cartwright family where amazing but I must admit that after Pernell Roberts left , the show was never the same. Dan Blocker´s death was a huge blow as well. I admire Pernell Roberts for believe in himself and his tallent. For sure Pernell did not die as a frustrated man. He was absolutelly drop dead gorgeous.

  • man, if I had a big paying gig like Pernell Roberts did with bonanza.....I would run it into the ground.....they would have to drag me out of that job by the feet while i scratched the floor with my finger nails. Hell, I'd even let Hop Sing corn hole me for that kind of money

  • Henry what a great actor

  • Thing about Parnell leaving the show was his audience felt cheated by the departure. That is never good for an actors career. I was one of those youngins at the time who really felt bad at the loss of Adam Cartwright.

  • @advcalcs >>>>>LOL>....at what you said

  • @inkey2 "Hell, I'd even let Hop Sing corn hole me for that kind of money"

Gee, I think I missed that episode... puts a whole new spin on 'jumping the shark', tho...

  • Pernell Roberts from my hometown (Waycross, Georgia) was man of principles and a hero. As an African American reared in a southern small town, I was proud to tell people that this man who marched for Civil Rights for all Americans and who gave money as well did not always like the stereotypes that TV heads presented, including on Bonanza. Bonanza was not the same after he left.

  • This is only hearsay without Roberts' opinion.

  • @1616magnolia I was totally in love with "Mono"! What a cutie!

  • Pernell was great actor and also Henry Darrow the unforgettable Manolito from High Chaparral. He is featured in a book about Puerto Ricans in cinema and TV by Miluka Rivera.
