Dr. Marcellus started out playing the Conn Double Bell baritone in Jr. high school......I went to school with him........can't help but wonder if that is how he came up with the trombone/trumpet. He didn't play the trombone until high school to give you some idea of his abilities. He was a great guy growing up and I am sure he still is. He well deserves all of the recognition he has received.

The Bones are great but the rhythmn section is weak.

He takes the F attachment tuning slide out and replaces it with the bell. He just hits the valve to use the second bell. He lovingly calls it the Marcellabone (ms?)

It's a custom trombone that John designed. There is a small valve that he uses to move the air to a small trumpet bell tuned in the key of Bb. Very interesting idea. Sounds very much like a trumpet when used. Otherwise, he plays a Conn 88H.
