Wow. This still makes me cry every time I see it. Brilliant. What an athlete. My only wish is that she could have done it like this at the Olympics. That would have been an unbelievable moment, but all's well that ends well.

@mlc2005 The Olympics that year were sad though. Kristi, Midori, and Tonya all skated nowhere near the best performances they had done that season. Even Nancy could have won with her94 Olympics performance which is kind fo a joke considering what the trio of skaters I mentioned are capable of.

I think that was a little sarcasm. Skating first was always a liability before the current points system.

こんな低空飛行のトリプルジャンプは初めてみた(笑)ほんとに回

I think it's funny they say "she get's to skate first" - that was before Michelle Kwan's loss in '98 - now skating first is seen as a liability.
-
Peggy: "I hope she doesn't skate over that [bow], because when you skate over something like that, you can definitely fall."
THANK YOU for the insight, Peg. I had no idea that skating over a piece of cloth on the ice might make you fall!

Did she ever-so -slightly two foot the landing of that triple toeloop at 2:27? Can't tell for sure.
-
She performed the triple salchow in 1989 (I think) at the US national.
-
I think that was the only time she landed a triple salchow in competition. It was such her nemisis jump! God I miss Kristi so much!
Wow, I have been watching skating for decades, but somehow I missed this one... This could have won a gold a decade after she skated this... Great job!!!!

One of my favorite skating programs of all time, and I agree, the best Kristi ever skated. Thanks for posting!
