Isn't there millions of gallons of oil spilling into the ocean without human intervention every day?

@thewondermikeshow Dude this crap happens all the time in Africa and Latin America, but it is nice to see now that is has happened in your backyard you give a rats ass! Ecuador has been waiting for Texaco now Chevron to clean up the mess they have caused for 20 years! Oh and yes the land in Ecuador can no longer support human life imagine that! At least in the Gulf BP is cleaning it up, or we will see if they really do clean it up!!! TO BE CONTINUED 20 YEARS FORM NOW!

The horizon of many doesn't stretch that far. For many Americans it doesn't even reach the Gulf of Mexico, let alone some poor Brothers in Africa. As long as plastic and fuel are cheap...

when you combine them all it's a wonder the planet still has life on it .

Finally someone speaks out. although heart felt condolences to thhe victims of the golf oil spill, my little cousins and neeces have died nd are terminnaly ill due to the ongoing polution from shell and shevron, both american companies in the niger delta where i am partly from. so i cant help but laugh at the irony of the reaction of the americsn GOVERNMENT when they recieve a dose of their own medicine.

@thewondermikeshow Yes, and the times when something of this magnitude has happened, it resulted in a mass die-off. The elements (if we are to believe the information) are in place that could result in an even greater catastrophe than what we are seeing.
I think of Bob Dylan's lyrics to Masters of War, -"you play with my world, like it's your little toy".
@macpduff
I agree with you 100%, what's happening in the Gulf HAS NEVER happened in the history of the planet. This is not a simple spill or boo boo. This is a cluster mess up! We have a massive amount of oil spewing into the gulf along with highly toxic gasses being pumped at a 1000 times above normal safety limits. Mass evacuations are possible. Parts of the U.S. could be unable to support human life for YEARS and they want to talk about the Niger Delta? Are you kidding me?

Why?
because 1970-2010 is a 40 yr period, not 52 days.
Also, the Gulf of Mexico is a world ecological gem.
Last, the Gulf sea floor is fractured and may blow up.
How's that for a start?
