On April 25th Bea Arthur has passed away at the age of 86. It was a complete shock and I feel deeply saddened. Bea was a wonderful actress, a brilliant comedienne and a sincere and good person. She has filled our lives with laughter and serenity. She mad us forget harsh reality. For us she will always be Dorothy Zbornak, the divorced substitute teacher, who lived in Miami with her mother Sophia and her best friends Blanche and Rose.
She will be missed by her family, her friends and her fans.

Farewell, Dorothy.

  • I read in the New York Times that Bea Arthur donated over 100,000 dollars to a homeless shelter for gay youth who were abandoned by their families. No one knew she was going to do it either, she just added it to her will without telling anyone! How incredible is that!!!! She put her money where her mouth is. Incredible integrity.
