The loans from China for developments such as roads, bridges and the sea wall on one of the Islands, have incorporated into those contracts from the Chinese, the exclusive use of Chinese labour, which effectively stifles any local participation.
So, the result is, the loans must be paid back with interest and there are little to no benefits to the local Villagers etc.
Fiji's next generation will be paying off these unfunded loans, for a long long time.
In regards to the building of infrastructure in Fiji, such as roads, bridges and sea walls etc., these loans did not need to be borrowed in the 1st. instance, because overseas Governments often contributed to their building with grants and grants don't need to be paid back, so the Regime in Fiji is borrowing where it is essentially, unnecessary.
