When staying at Mosetlha Bush Camp in the Madikwe NP, we encountered this lion pride on the Abjaterskop road . Two females, two males and five cubs were playing on the road and and in the bushes close to the road.
The two big males of this pride are the sons of the legendary Batia brothers, that were the first big male lions of Madikwe. The pride is doing very well. They all looked very healthy.

The majesty of these animals is sometimes beyond word. But their numbers have been cut down by humans, from the 100s of 1000s to a couple dozen individuals here & there in isolated reserves & parks in the last 150 years. All continents where there's habitats need to be repopulated with lions, in order to save them. Africa & the Africans shouldn't have to shoulder lions survival alone, since these animals belong to the whole world & they need vast land with grasses that sustain large herbivores.
