Brief bit from film "Limelight." Stars are Charlie Chaplin, Claire Bloom, Andre Eglevsky and Melissa Hayden. Exquisite dance scene, but what happens backstage prior to Claire's entrance is startling! Talk about a slap scene!

  • me encanta est a escena d la pelicula candilejas", chaplinnnnnnnn!! is so betterrrrrrrr in the cinemaaaaaaaaa!!!. ohuuuuuuu , is lovelyyyyyyy!!!!....

  • @INKAGIRL100 Yo también amo esta película. Claire Bloom en realidad no baila aquí. Melissa Hayden fue el bailarín real, y vi bailar en vivo hace unos 100 años! Por favor,

    acepten mis mejores deseos!

  • I was at Andre's studio from 1963-1968. He was an amazing talent and a great teacher. He could do endless turns and would suspend himself in the air when he leaped. I was very lucky to study with him and his beautiful wife, Leda.

  • What an amazing experience for you, to have studied with such a genius! I saw him often, but was very young at the time. Wish I still had the "Playbill," ie, paid-for photo collection of the stars from back in the day. Great memories from you, and thanks for sharing.

  • andre great dancer ballon jump and able to do 16 pirouettes

  • Kind friend, thank you so much for your gracious comment on Mr. Eglevesky's incredible performance! I only saw him 2 or 3 times when I was very young. Thanks for your illuminating comment about the 16 pirouettes! I'd not have been surprised had you said 22! He was an an amazing talent. I only wish I'd seen him more. I'm very proud to have heard from you!

    Thanks again,

    Varadero

  • Pour écouter cette superbe musique il faut aller jusqu'à 2min50 et la c'est l'extase.

  • I agree with jsl1952. It was pretty cool.

  • I can only say: OMG!!!! some "ballerinas" of today should watch and learn.

  • This ballet is strongly inspired from the "Gisele" by Adam i think.

  • lmao. im going to favorite this just for 2:40

  • interestingly enough I also took a class at Maggie Black's with a friend of mine from Eglevsky, Her name was Teresa Graziadei. Eglevsky sent me to ABT summer sessions. I remember being at the bar with Gelsey Kirkland and many other of the ABT dancers. I never realized oe appreciated what a great opportunity I was given by Mr. E. In Brussels I was in class with Suzanne Ferrel who had been there for a short time in early 70s. Ballet du Vingtieme Siecle was the name of the company.

  • no. i studied in nyc with Maggie Black year 72 also, can't break down 72 year precisely by season. wish remembered you (Joel)- my shy demeanor probably is responsible for that. at maggie's there were some famous dancers in class on a regular basis.

belgium, that is interesting- had 2 friends belgium, belgium artist guy let extra room to me w/ girl from taiwan, was much later eighties.- another belgium girl visited me then, lived uptown. the belgium dude returned to belgium, not seen since.
