From The Corner To My Heart: A Semi Story Chapter 6 p2

"Okay we're here," Nick said once we stepped inside the shooting room. Jen was putting some outfits together. "Oh look who's here," she said without enthusiasm. Wait, was she talking about me? "Um, what? Aren't I always here?" I asked confused. "Yeah, you've been here. But you haven't really BEEN here," she told me. "I'm still lost," I said, taking a seat on a small stool across from the girl. Nick walked to the other side of the room to get the green screen. "Its like you're distracted about something, not really paying attention to me, or Nick for that matter. And when we don't have work up here you're just all closed up in your office. I its like you've become distance this past week." I folded my arms. "No that's, that's not true." "Okay, well I've called you about a million times to see if you could help me on new design or just to hang out, and you were either busy or you didn't answer. Mostly the latter." She picked up a shirt and threw it angrily next to her. Nick was coming back in with the screen. "And don't try to deny it, Nick thinks the same as me." "Ugh," he groaned as he set up the screen. When he had it up he turned to us, a little sweat on his forehead. "I think what again?" "Tell Sel how she's been acting lately," Jen told him, which made him sigh. "Alright fine," he wiped his forehead. "Well you've been acting weird lately. We haven't spend a lot of time together. And I'd been trying to get you to come over to test a new video game with me for like 5 days now."

I looked between the two. I couldn't possibly have been giving all my attention to Demi and forgetting my friends. But I guess I have. "Um, well, I'm sorry guys. I didn't realize it." Nick came over and patted my back. "Its alright. But just know I'm gonna whip your ass in the video game," he said. I laughed. "I'd like to see you try." "Oh, you're so on," he told me. We playfully got in each other's faces before Jennifer came between us, separating us from each other. "As much as I'd love to hear you guys trash talk each other we sorta have work to do," she said. I nodded. "Yea, let me just go get my camera." "No I can get it for you, I gotta go get something from my office anyway," Jennifer offered. "Alright, well you know where it is just—No! Never mind I'll save you the trouble and I'll go get it." I almost forgot about Demi. "No really, its cool Sel I can get it," Jen said, and tried to opened the door but I slammed it closed and stood in front of it. "You really don't have to." The gorl tilted her head to the side and looked at me suspiciously. "What are you hiding?" she asked. "W-what? Nothing," my voice cracked. She turned to Nick. "Get her." He ran over to me and picked me up over his shoulders, while Jen ran out the door. "No Nick, put me down!" I pounded his back and eventually he let me go. We stood facing each other, each of us looking at the door then each other and back, waiting for the other to move. I ran first, heading for the elevator. But it was closing with Jenniffer inside. Nick ran up to my side before we both ran separate ways, he was headed for the North stairs and I headed for the Soucth stairs.

I ran down the stairs as fast as my legs could carry me, and when there were about 5 steps left I jumped and bolted towards my office. I arrived at the same time as Jen and Nick, who were running up on either side of me. I held my arms out across the door and pressed my back against it trying to stop them from going in. I should have locked it..."Move it Sel!" "Open the door!" Grunts from the three of us echoed in the hallway as the two tried to enter my office. "Wait! Wait! Wait!" I pushed them off of me and stood up straight trying to catch my breath. "Let's just be nice about this guys and handle it in a civil way." Jen looked at me, then Nick, then ran to the door and opened it before I could stop her. I came in after her, and Nick wasn't far behind. Demi was where I left her last, deeply entertained by my computer game. "Um, Selena..." Jennifer turned to look at me. "Who is she?" She pointed to Demi who looked up at her. "Hey, I have a name," she said. Jen ignored her and continued to stare me down. "What? I- I have no idea," I lied. "Selly, I'm hungry," Demi told me. I gave myself a facepalm after she said that. "And who are these people? Have we been caught?" I sighed and shook my head at her before Nick pulled my arm catching my attention. "Outside." He pulled me out the door as Jen followed, closing the door behind her. She placed her hands on her hips. I don't think they were mad, well not totally at least, just confused. "Care to explain?"
