@b7r7u7c7e Yes but he still had a good go in the early rounds. Frazier fought 75% of his career with cataracts in his eye, but...this will go around. So each to their own and I respect your opinion.
@Godzilla370 Anybody who knows anything about boxing will tell Tyson was in his worst shape fighting Douglas. Look at the the early Ali, Liston, Patterson, and Holmes fights. Those fighters had guys that were intimidated but they fought back. Every fighter that Tyson faced befour he went to jail fought back hard. Thats why they got KO. lol Were going around in a circle. You think Joe would beat Tyson and I respect that. However I give Tyon edge with 2 fisted power, speed, and better defense.
@b7r7u7c7e Tyson was intimidation his opponents, Buster Douglas was not intimidated by a 23 year old Tyson and beat him. Tyson was at the top of his game and lost to a Journeyman, Frazier also destroyed his opposition but it's not in Frazier's style to take his opponents in 1 or 2 rounds it's to wear them down. Look at the Ellis fight he killed Ellis in the ring, the 70s was the best decade of Heavyweights and Joe was a dominating fighter. Joe from 65-73 destroyed his division.
@Godzilla370 One other thing when you look at the fighters Tyson faced in his prime and compare it to other fighters besides the ones in the 70's its very impressive. Compare his fighters he beat in his prime compared to Jack Johson, Jack Dempsey, Louis, and Rocky. Unlike the fighters of the 20' 30' 40' and 50's the top ten in the 80's was deep. From 85 to 88 Tyson destroyed the divistion, fighting 3 times a year! You mention Tillis but just like any great you have some bad nights.
@Godzilla370 Rooney is on record saying that there management was looking to set up a fight with George. Tyson fired Keven a year later & King veto the fight simply because Foreman was asking for 2 much. King tried to do the same thing with Ruddock but this time Tyson said no. Btw Tyson is a swarmer & slugger with great defense. Again Tyson beat solid good boxer in there late 20's. Tony Tucker who Holmes & Spinks avoided... Briggs,Tubs,Thomas who never got knocked out till Tyson destroyed him
@b7r7u7c7e Yes but why didn't Tyson step up and fight someone like Foreman? It's because Cus D'Amato said that no Swarmer would beat a Slugger. He looks so good because he fought low level competition, and struggled with fading fighters like Tillis. And he destroyed an old Holmes who was making his first comeback fight. Holyfield's style is not to KO his opponents early btw. Fighters he fought had already lost by the time Tyson got to them.
@Godzilla370 You have to put Tyson in context. He was the youngest heavyweight at 20 years! So he cleaned out the heavyweights from the early 80's. Keep in mind all these men he beat were still in there late 20's and past champs, but fighters closer in his age were still in the amatures! lol So by the time Tysons peers reached him he was getting out of jail way past his prime. For example Tyson destroyed Larry Holmes. But Holyfield at his peak 6 years later went 12 rounds?
@b7r7u7c7e Yes but these aren't great fighters. Fact, Tyson never beat a great fighter. He used it but his defense wore down later, Frazier beat a great fighter, Ali. He gave him his first loss and toughest fights, Tyson lost to Douglas and Holyfield. And I know people say he was post prime at the Holyfield fight, but he was a massive favorite. Tyson was mentally work, he couldn't go to war.
@Godzilla370 Huh? A prime Tyson used his defense all the time. Just look at the Tony Tucker fight, Mitch Green, Ratiliff(He did stop him but its was late rd 10 but he was still able to slip japs the whole fight)and Tillis. Tyson Bobbing and weaving style was the cus a damto style. More complex. Tyson didnt duck in a jack n the box manner like Frazier but more in a U style. Up down and over to right or left. Tyson had more weapon. A powerful right hand. He was faster more explosive. Edge Tyson.
@b7r7u7c7e Okay, I respect your opinion but disagree. Frazier did have a Left-Hook but he wore his opponents down and used it when his opponents were vulnerable, Tyson stopped using his defense in the mid rounds, you see Frazier bobbed and weaved well. Frazier could hit hard in the late rounds and Tyson never had a stoppage past the 7th, IMO, Frazier would wear Tyson down and get him late. Tyson was mentally weak, Frazier wasn't.
