  • Its also offensive to call someone a Dog or a Pig in Indonesia...its one of the 1001 reasons to start badmouthing or fighting here or generally anywhere in South-East Asia

  • Great Video

  • Nice one. I speak an Austronesian language called Cebuano. The dialect I speak is the Mindanao dialect of it. It's interesting to see how Malagasy and Cebuano are related languages.

  • Yeah do ever call anyone a "dog" I know it's like really cool to call someone "dog" in English but just don't do it when you're in Madagascar. I've called someone a dog there and they followed to my house!

Peter ve ny anara nao sa ny anara ny vady nao?

  • yes, it is related to Barito languages spoken in Borneo. the people of Madagascar are mix-heritage of Malay-Polynesian (Austronesian), African, and Arabic people. The Merina people of Madagascar look very similar to Malays.

  • Good job, elder Peter. You sound perfect. Henri is a good teacher, too.

Woaw! the bug zap ! It's the first time for me to see an electric fly-catching device like that. And you're right about the hairstyle.

We call that "coco rasé " (litterally translated "shaved coconut").

  • can you tell me a website to study malagasy?

I wanna learn to do a simple conversation.

    Thanks!!!

  • malagasy language is member of the Malayo-Polynesian branch of the Austronesian language family. The Malagasy language also includes borrowings from Bantu languages (notably Swahili), and Arabic

    good luck :)

  • Hej!

    Good luck in learning Malagasy!

I heard it is related to Indonesian, which I could recognize by the word "I" and "my".

    Once again, good luck!
