Seattle University School of Law, Film and the Law Class Project
The film, "Reasonable Suspicion", is an adaptation of the United States Supreme Court case Terry v. Ohio, 392 U.S. 1 (1968), which stars James Earl Johnson as Terry, a man suspected of "casing a job, a stick-up." "Reasonable Suspicion," shows how Terry v. Ohio set the standard for what is deemed reasonable suspicious behavior and examines the complex intersection of racial stereotypes, the United States justice system, and how truth differs based on each person's perspective. The directors of the film present a modern day approach on how Terry v. Ohio applies today and gives a preview as to where it may lead us, and provides a means for dialogue as to how far reasonable suspicion should go. Could YOU be the next victim of reasonable suspicion?
