Caught this on my phone today at japfest. Feel so bad for the guy, Im off out to buy a fire extinguisher.

@kerbsideconversion You've not a clue what you're talking about have you? This Dippit was repeatedly flagged to come in. Marshals on circuit saw a problem. What did he do? Aimed straight for his paddock area with an engine on fire. Lesson? When you're out playing "real racing cars" pay attention to the marshals cos they know what they're doing, (they're not there for the money!) 99% of you don't, And if it all goes tits up cos "You know best" don't blame the marshals. It'll be your fault!

I saw this car out on track and it was definitely an impressive machin, what a shame :( what actually caused it?

@kerbsideconversion The driver's name is Alex Khateeb, was concerned for our cameras, we had three mounted on the car. Two we're filming at the time. It's a great shame.

I was queuing on the other side of the car park with my mate in my MX-5 when I saw a shit load of smoke...
We didn't realise it was a car burning!

Sad day indeed, been covering this vehicle for Alex and all of our cameras were on the car and caught the whole thing. Lets hope its not as bad as it looks. I believe we will hears soon enough if shes making a comeback.

I missed this but someone from my car club was there whilst I was at the club stand. Apparently it's salvageable and just needs a new wiring loom and a few other bits. I hope so, was a great looking car.

I think he had a handheld in the boot, but wasnt allowed to go back for it. Marshalls were crap to be honest. The first guy brought over a dud extinguisher, and then after putting it out didnt realise for about 20secs that the dash was burning underneath!
I hear the guy will be putting it back together pretty soon.
