Hubble images are made, not born. Images must be woven together from the incoming data from the cameras, cleaned up and given colors that bring out features that eyes would otherwise miss. In this video from HubbleSite.org, online home of the Hubble Space Telescope, a Hubble-imaged galaxy comes together on the screen at super-fast speed.

  • As an official messenger of the civilization around the star system you just photoshopped away as bad pixels, I protest not representing us in the final image and consider this a deliberate act to misguide your beings of our importance. As a retaliation, we are removing your entire solar system from our 'Atlas of the Cosmos'.

  • With that music I keep expecting Looney Tunes to run past.

  • The 7 'black and white' images each correspond to certain wavelengths of 'light' (colour). The colours represented in the final image is based on this data, but may not be representative of the real thing if it were to be seen in this detail by eye, as the images could be representing wavelengths outside the visible spectrum like infrared, ultraviolet, or microwaves. Therefore, these images are NOT fake, but rather to view these objects in much more detail.

  • I'd like to know how the colors are assigned to black and white images? Are they broken down to spectrum of temperature of the pixels or what.

  • Very enjoyable thank you

  • some great inforamtion here thanks

  • good work here

  • is that adobe cs4

  • Why is everyone complaining? the images are 100% real, but the colours dont show everything about the galaxy so they need enhancing

  • @adrumzzify I have a Bushnell ARES 5 inch Compact Truss Tube Dobsonian Telescope, the OpticsPlanet Edition. It's on sale right now for $149.00...it's around $310.00 usually. Free shipping! When I wrote this message a month ago I could see Jupiter's stripes and it's 4 visible moons looked like they were in 3D; which was kind of cool. I viewed this from the south central michigan.

  • @imsuprised please tell me what telescope you have inorder to see jupiter.. i am desperate for a decent telescope, thanks! I hope you reply
