  • What lens was this video shot with? Was it with the 135mm?

  • @CollardyFilms it was a tokina 11-16mm 2.8, this lets me be close enough to hit record and set focus, another one of my favorite lenses

  • @reimaginecinema damn! I was hoping it was the 135mm, although i was thinking the background is kinda wide. I just got the 135 f2 looking to play with it tomorrow. Was this shot at the 2.8? i love the bokeh

  • @CollardyFilms shot at f2.8, 135mm F2 has the best bokeh I've ever seen, it is quite stunning!

  • Thanks for the really fast reply, I have been thinking about the 50mm 1.4 I already own a 50mm 1.8 (I know, this lens is more like a toy) but here is my situation if I just buy the body I will have around $1000 to spend in lenses. if you were me what will you buy?

  • @JAMG92 but, I'll give you a few combos that could work well

    Samyang 35mm 1.4 and the tamron 70-200mm F2.8 about 1200 for both

    Canon 24mm F2.8 CAnon 50mm F1.4 Canon 100mm F2

    Samyang 35mm 1.4 Canon 50mm 1.4 Canon 85mm 1.8

if you already have a 50mm, perhaps a 35mm and a Tamron is a good choice? What lengths do you shoot the most at.

My favorite focal lengths are 17mm (wide, 24mm will do) 50mm normal field of view, and 135mm beautiful blur.

Let me know more and I'll send more suggestions

  • @reimaginecinema shame... i should have seen this clip before purchasing a Tamron 10-24mm.... although it's after the price of the Tokina. I only shoot videos, so I like checking video tests on youtube

  • the question is how much flexibility you want...zoom offers really nice flexibility, and 24-105 is a pretty nice focal length so it's a good choice.

The Tamron 70-200mm 2.8 is excellent at 700 dollars.

The biggest thing is knowing your shooting style: the best lenses for both versatility, for performance and price IMHO are

    50mm 1.4

    Samyang 35mm 1.4 500 dollars and outperforms canons 35 1.4 $1400 lens

If you like to be zoomed in a bit more, 85mm 1.8, and the 100mm macro perform great as well.

  • @JAMG92 The 135mm is a fantastic lens, but it's not very versatile...images I shoot with it are great but I only use it like 10 percent of the time, because it's very zoomed in. The kit lens is nice, I find the F4 a little wanting at times, I would recommend you get the canon 50mm F1.4. It's more or less the same field of view as our normal vision...I've shot entire films with it. The Samyang 35mm 1.4 and Canon 85mm 1.8 are also great depending on your shooting style

  • Hi there, great review Im planning to buy the canon 5d mark II with the 24-105mm IS Lens, what do you think should I buy just the body and the135mm? or is the kit lens better choice? I do video mostly. Thanks mate :)
