Good SNES Music: Castlevania: Dracula X (Akumajo Dracula XX) - part 1/2

Excellent music from the greatest whip-wielding, vampire-slaying series of all time! Dracula X is based on a game for the PC Engine Super CD (making it the "holy grail" of collectors as even the console itself is rare) called Akumajo Dracula X: Chi no Rondo ["Rondo of Blood"]. This game is one of the last "old" Castlevania games, and is the direct prequel to Symphony of the Night, which takes place a few years after this game.

The PCE Super CD version is considered to be superior (and was the version used in the recent PSP compilation), as it had streamed music, more levels, and animated cutscenes. While the SNES version is derivative of that game, it still holds its charm.

Personally, this game seems to be one of the most difficult in the series. I couldn't beat it without savestates because I'm a wimp. :-}

I think the music in this game stands up quite well to the CD version. The SNES sound chip was pretty amazing for its time.

@shadowupper You'r arguement stand quite well, excpept this game is superior to the CV4 :). Neverthless, CV Bloodlines is the best CV ever made!

Underrated game. I Think the music and graphics are waaaay better than Castlevania 4. But many consider this game to be a cutted port of "Rondo Of Blood".

The trut (for me) is that this game is not as good a Rondo Of Blood and lacks the good gameplay of Super Castlevania 4. But still a great game and deserved better criticism.
