"My rights to keep other people from having equal rights is being effected."--Paid for by Zombies against gay marriage.

We need to emphasize a very simple rule to the Christians:
Stopping you from oppressing others isn't oppressing you. You can "go tell it on the mountain" all you want but don't tell it on capitol hill.

I'm a former member. And I was not surprised in the least that they were the major backer of Prop 8.
Like any large organization, they're a mixed bag. Most members are very sweet if not naive. But there are definitely some will-to-power types that take the literal teachings in that church a tad far.
This whole NOM business is just absurd.

You mention democrats as if it's the same party today. The problem is a mindset: CONSERVATISM, which today has a home in the republican party. (Hell, they still dictate the party) Conservatives- the fundamentalists that they are, are usually the last group to accept anything that they feel threatened by.

Hey YARPLY, you must know how faggots suck. I'm sure you've tryed it before! Next time say something positive or don't say anything at all...

Schoolyard bullies are always the worst crybabies. They run to the teacher faster than anyone when you hit back. Christians and Muslims are no different. They feel no compulsion to respect your lack of beliefs but whine like drama queens the moment they encounter any resistance.

Yeah, they do. That's exactly what they do when making love (or just enjoying recreational sex). That's also what a lot of straight females do.

That would be consistent, and it has occurred to me.
BTW, I'm a teacher. One of my former students and one of my friends were reared LDS and finally came out. Their anguish, and their relatives', was heartbreaking.
But that's one thing. Sub rosa financing of political organizations seeking to impose their views on others is a whole 'nother thing. If they're doing it again, they ought to lose their not for profit tax break.

I'm sure this is getting LDS backing.
Obviously, golefttv is missing the big picture. It's naivete is amusing.
