Why are you comparing RoR with Php? Php is a language while RoR is a framework. Don't you have any sense? Why not RoR with Zend? or RoR with Yii? Like if im correct.

I didnt know that ruby invented the MVC framework. I also didnt know that PHP developers are not allowed to use the zend framork or cakephp.

Different strokes for different folks. As a programming nerd myself, I don't care what's cool, I care what works. PHP has made me a frickin' truckload of money over the years and that's all the 'coolness' I need. :)

It's 'cool' from the perspective of a programming nerd. It won't make other people think you're cool or anything. It's a personal thing.

PHP is a language designed and conceived for web development. That is not the case for ruby. Ruby had to wait for RoR to jump to the web. But it still shows that Ruby is not truly meant for the web. For example, you can just add or update a few PHP files and.. magic.. the web browser reads the changes. I like Ruby, but it shows that it's not meant for the web.

`"PHP may not be as cool as Ruby"

"Coolness" plays no part in my choice of programming languages. If this is what ROR developers think is a compelling argument to try Ruby, I want some of what they're smoking.

PHP crap? At least we have to admit that PHP 5.4 pushed the language up a couple of notches.

PHP may not be as cool as Ruby (but again, have you used PHP 5.4?) but you can drop a few files in a web server and woala! Not all languages are so straightforward and none of them are so integrated into a web server (if you dont count node.js)

CakePHP = one release every 2 years. I ditched it and went to Rails, never looked back!
