i have question

Since there is a huge price hike in su-30 MKI's price (150% = 100million a piece) do u think India will have second thought on buying this beauty or will they minimize they total they previously thought?

Price is eventually going to increase for all aircrafts. Sukhoi 30 is a powerful machine and country's security depends on it. Indian government and IAF will be more than happy to buy more su30s regardless of price. I think the new order would come with AESA and upgraded avionics.

IAF is planning to have 45 squadrons in 10 to 15 yrs time.

@kashsoldier why doesnt india buy american jets? F35 lightning? Also doesn't india have great aerospace engineers to design their own jet? I know tehy are making a 5th generation fighter but they should make more than just 1. india shud make a whole 5th generation fleet... including helicopters .

Well, it is not easy to do business with Americans. They want India to sign agreements which can never be accepted by India. It is one of the reasons why India doesn't want to go beyond transport planes from the US.

Coming to Stealth fighters - India already funding a project called FGFA (stealth fighter) with Russia and also working on an indigenous stealth fighter named Advanced medium combat aircraft (AMCA) with focus on twin indigenous engines (Kaveri)

@kashsoldier hey kash, help me out . i wanted to know exactly how many su30mki we have in our air force ? i know it is hard to give an exact number, but give me your opinion. every site gives a different number . hal built 23 su30s in 2009 and 28 in 2010[given in the news].

defense minister said in perliament in june 2009 that the iaf had 98 su30s at that time.since then atleast around 40 jets must have been added[12 in remaining of 2009 + 28 in 2010]. that means we must have ~140 in jan2011?
