Danny Boy by Sil Austin released in 1959 The lyrics to "Danny Boy" were written by the English lawyer and lyricist Frederick Weatherly in 1910, DANNY BOY LYRICS. Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying
If I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.
And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be
For ye shall bend and tell me that you love me
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to

  • Nice Music

    Greetings Hans

  • SMoooooth!.they played this one over and over on KAFY 550 radio in Bakersfield, CA back in the day!! Great Stuff!

  • . . . a I think I was 19 or 20 when I bought the album, and still have. Thank you for posting a great song, and thanks to all those that reconize a good song when then hear it. Beth Wishes!

  • I believe this to be the greatest album ever recorded!! I'm sure that has a lot to do with my age and where I was when I first came upon the album (1962 when I was 17).

Unfortunately I got rid of all my LP's when CD's became popular :-( And while I might regret that, I love listening to the song/album digitally!!

  • My grade school teacher, who loved jazz as much as I did at that age, introduced me to "Ping-Pong"'s classic recording of "Danny Boy" when I was, God, only about seven or eight years old, and it's the one I've used as a standard ever since, and against which all other recordings have been found wanting.

  • I have this LP...lucky me. How I love listening to Sil Austin.

  • I first heard tis in a college dorm room in 1967. I will never forget it or any of the other great pieces done by Sil Austin. He is a genius on that sax.

  • I would almost kill to get my hands on this LP but on CD.Oh can Sil play that sax.Genius.

  • In the '60s, any sax player in a club band was expected to know this tune. I never heard anybody including myself play it like Sil Austin, though. He was one of the great R&B sax men and not many know it.
