In our journey across life's thoroughfare
Many times, we do not even dare...
To challenge that which stands before our very eyes
And only blindly place on, our so disguise
To be that which is expected, and that which is commonly held in reverance
But as such, it may very well be our own selves....who we have left in negligence
Forgetting who we are, and where it is that we have gone
To stop and wonder if the steps we have taken, should have been taken all along
And then perhaps remind of what the self so desires and so yearns
Rather than preoccupy with what our daily occupations can so earn...
And then perhaps...
One day...
The fancy cars and fancy homes, and fancy "titles" may no longer bring us joy
And all the materialism will self-destroy
And then perhaps we will stop now...
And wonder...Wonder how...
How we can not, can not understand
The confusion of the mind, as it now demands...
That "something" that has been missing. Missing every day
That "something" more...that would help us pave our way...
And help us find that which we really seek
As we humble our pride, and render it quite meek
And then we'll look this way. That way too
In hopes of stumbling upon that one very clue...
And then we may "TURN LEFT". And then we may "TURN RIGHT"
In search of that which was really...in...such... plain site...
But in the search of our own self, and who we really are
We seek to find the answers. And seek so very wide and far...
But...if we'd look in the mirror...
The person who looks back, the person we do so see
Is the very reflection of who we have come to be
And into the eyes, the soul we will perceive...
And into the soul...perhaps we then shall weave...
The truth and goodness into our daily lives
With more wisdom and understanding, we might now strive...
To give new meaning in what we do and what we say
To give a little more than what we take, of each our every day
And in our journey across life's thoroughfare...
Perhaps we may now dare...
To gaze into the mirror...where we may alas MEET...
The someone staring back, who may now be that much more...
complete...
*** For those who have ever gone in search of that "something" more...
May the days and years ahead, allow each of us to look in the mirror,
and be at peace with the reflection of our very selves...
