Dmitry Medvedev, Russia's president, has said that a deal aimed at restoring gas supplies through Ukraine to Europe is "null and void".
Moscow said on Sunday that it objected to Kiev's handwritten alterations to the agreement allowing European, Russian and Ukrainian monitors to oversee gas supplies being piped through Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the amendments to the text made by Ukraine, apparently in a hand-written annex to the Russia-EU accord, simply contradict the document signed by us and the European Union.
The text of the agreement signed by Ukraine was not made public and top Ukrainian officials involved in the negotiations on the monitoring deal could not immediately be reached for comment after the Russian rejection of the pact.
A declaration attached to the agreement by the Ukrainians stated that Kiev had not taken any transit gas and had no outstanding debts to Gazprom, the Russian supplier.
It also said Russia must supply extra "technical" gas to the Ukraine to maintain pressure in the pipeline system, despite the measure not being agreed with Moscow.
Let's see what will happen tomorrow...
Tymoshenko already says they will have to take 21 mln m^3 of technical gas again.
It means only that Ukraine has NOTHING in storages, everything is sold or spent long ago.
No gas and no money to buy it. The only explanation for the desperate need for technical gas.
Somebody will have to loan them a credit. I wouldn't recommend Russians do this - they don't have enough levers to get their money back. Ukraine will not return it without adventures again.

Ukraine is not a European country, as it tries to imagine or persuade everybody.
De facto, Ukraine is an american country. Russia has realized this fact couple of years ago, now Europe should do the same - the earlier the better (for Europe). Ukrainian elite is oriented towards and bred by the american political system. Therefore all dividends earned by these people will float to America, with necessity.
