Patara beach near the town of Gelemiş is one of the biggest and the most beautiful beaches of the region near the ancient city of Patara. It has spectacular sand dunes. Patara beach is the longest and the most magnificent in its region. This 18 km.-length beach sometimes reaches 200-300 meter depth. It has soft sand and shallow sea. On the water line tens of crabs take an effort in amusing the beach guests. The beach and sand dunes are one of the places where the caretta caretta sea turtle deposits its eggs. Because of this, this beach is under protection. At its most eastern point there is a rocky outcrop looking over a spectacular rocky cove.

  • i am going to kalkan soon and wanted to visit patara beach and it does look wonderful, but i'm petrified of crabs!!!!! they are like beach spiders!! I think i may just stay by the pool after watching this....

  • Hello princess,

Don't be petrified, there's no need to. Crabs run away from you, not towards you. I filmed them with a telelens. Although I think crabs are really intriguing to watch, I don't want them near me either. Nor spiders for that matter ...

  • makes me dreaming , wonderful

  • It is ... Patara Beach and the excavation in its natural surroundings are absolutely wonderful. And so is the peacefulness of just sitting on the beach watching the moves of the crabs.
